Big Thanks to Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company

Thank you to Dance Director Erica Bawek, dancers Adriana Garcia-Ruelas and Maria Romero for their beautiful performance at Tropico de Nopal for the Day of the Dead Calavera Fashion and Walking Altares Show. They not only modeled the dresses, they choreographed the performance in very short notice. You can see video of their performance by following the youtube link below.

Putting the LA in GuadaLAjara!
In December I had the pleasure of attending the Feria Internacional del Libro, where Los Angeles was the guest of honor and had the assigned task of bringing a cultural program of literature, art and music that was representative of the city. We did not disappoint! I helped friend, Colin Gunckel to put up the large wheat paste graphics for the show that were made by Jesse Vidaurre for the show. METRO Art on New Expo Line
I'm very happy to announce that Metro has selected my proposal for the new Expo Line. My work will be permanently installed at the Exposition/La Cienega station, an elevated station that will arch over La Cienega Blvd. at Jefferson. The line will be up and running some time in 2010. It will run from downtown LA to Culver City.

L.A. LOTERIA


Aardvark Letterpress is celebrating their 40th anniversary by creating a set of letterpressed prints based on the Mexican game of Loteria all featuring LA icons created by individual artists. I'm proud to be included in the first of three sets of 18 artists. Above is my Loteria card, El Puente, the Bridge.

Small Plates Project at San Francisco Center for the Book
I'm pleased to announce that I'm one of four artists that will be working with the Center for the Book creating an editioned book on the theme of biology through their annual Small Plates book series. The release date for it is Friday August 28th. I'll posting more information as it becomes available.
