Baroque AF! Nstro. Sr. de Los venenos. Legend has it that during the Mexico’s colonial period, a devout Catholic merchant would go and pray daily at a church and deposit a gold coin in the offering box. A rival noticed and become jealous of his piety and success and decided to poison him. He had his breakfast contaminated with a slow poison and he then followed him to church. When the poisoned merchant finished his prayers, he kissed the feet of an ivory crucifix. Almost immediately, a black stain appeared on the feet of the Christ and it consumed the statue and turned it black. The merchant’s rival was so stunned that he confessed the whole plot. The crucifix is now enshrined at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City. #CDMX #cristo #linocut #leyenda #printmaking

"Uranium mining on Diné and Havasupai lands in what we call Arizona has killed generations of First People. Mining and transportation of uranium poisons the well water, animals and people. For these reasons, the indigenous youth organized to run on foot, letters to the White House to appeal that uranium mining end in their communities. Companies were petitioning Congress to overturn a 2012 decision to have a 20 year ban on uranium mining on 1 million acres of tribal lands, arguing the government. Mining companies have refused to adequately remediate inactive mining sites that continue to expose First People to toxic uranium dust."
